Understand the finding and the proposed goal
Imagine your orthodontist identifies a front-tooth crossbite and separately proposes tooth alignment. The finding describes the relationship; the goal means intended change, not a result.
What can the different parts contribute?
An individualized healthy bite is the functional goal of orthodontic care.
For selected jaw problems beyond orthodontics alone, combined care can align teeth and reposition jaws, planned with the patient, orthodontist and surgeon. These are complementary purposes, not a rule that every crossbite needs surgery.
Aligners require suitability assessment; braces may be discussed when aligners are unsuitable.
Retention holds teeth in their finished positions after active treatment.
Put the explanation into a care conversation
SMILE-FX® confirms broad surgical-case and MARPE capabilities and collaboration with surgeons. A conversation about those services establishes the individual proposal; it does not promise a particular method for you. Board-certified orthodontist follow-ups keep clinical responsibility visible. Digital planning and a qualified simulation provide a concrete reference for discussion, while standard monitoring lets progress information reach the team alongside required visits.
Read the full care model and its individual arrangements. The retainer-design guide develops the holding-appliance topic when you want to explore that next.
