Keep upper/lower and front/back clear
Common examples: upper front teeth behind lower front teeth, or upper back teeth inside lower back teeth. One or several teeth may be involved.
Back-teeth crossbites can also place upper teeth outside lower teeth.
Use the description actually supplied at your appointment. Ask the clinician to point out the teeth being described while you follow the explanation. The bite-relationship guide develops directional drawings if that is the part you want to explore.
What does your adult assessment establish?
Diagnosis identifies an individual tooth or jaw goal beyond the relationship name.
Possible records include health history, examination of teeth and supporting tissues, models or scans, photographs and radiographs; these are not a mandatory package.
Adult assessment includes in-person oral-health evaluation; photographs or scans do not replace evaluation beneath the gums.
Explain what matters to you in your own words. You may want a description clarified before deciding what you want to discuss next. You can bring an existing explanation and ask the clinician to connect it with your priorities.
Continue from the finding to its purpose
Follow an everyday example in the next chapter: understand the finding and the proposed goal, then consider which part of your own conversation you want to pursue.
For a separately raised expansion question, the expansion-evaluation guide has its own role. You do not need to start with that method to use this guide.
